Grasonville sits on Kent Island's eastern edge along Kent Narrows, the channel separating the island from mainland Queen Anne's County. Together with neighboring Chester, Grasonville anchors a combined community of roughly 8,000 people built around one of the Chesapeake's most active waterfront dining and boating destinations. Once a center of oyster and crab packing houses, Kent Narrows has shifted toward recreational boating and tourism, though Harris Seafood Company continues to process catch from hundreds of regional watermen and supports the Bay's oyster aquaculture recovery efforts. Today the area is home to several marinas, hotels including a Hyatt Place and Hilton Garden Inn, and a dense cluster of waterfront seafood restaurants and dock bars that draw boaters and day-trippers from Annapolis, Baltimore, and Washington. The Cross Island Trail connects Grasonville to the rest of Kent Island for cyclists and pedestrians. Grasonville's economy blends working seafood operations with a tourism and hospitality sector built almost entirely around its position on the water.
